We've had a crazy monsoon season here in Gilbert, Arizona. From the start of July until this week, the dew point has been high, it's been hot, humid, and rainy. I don't know about any historical settings, but I"m sure this monsoon season has been on the more humid side.
With our humid monsoon season, Gilbert, Arizona is seeing all kinds of mosquitoes. And while mosquitoes aren't as common here as they might be in Florida, this year we are seeing a lot.
Here at Val Vista Lakes, we have no more than your home or your neighborhood, but we do always want to make sure our wedding couples and wedding guests have the best possible experience, which is why our wedding professionals got together to create a list of solutions to keeping every single mosquito away from your wedding...
Go All Natural: No one wants to use bug spray on their wedding day. I mean, they just don't make bug spray in any sweet smells or cologne flavors. For your wedding, try to incorporate some natural repellents, like lavender, lemon balm, and peppermint. Having a few of those natural elements scattered throughout your bouquette and seating area can help to keep mosquitoes at bay.
Floating Candles: Mosquitoes aren't keen on the scent of lemon, so instead of having citronella candles around your guests, which can have a very distinct smell, try mason jars full of lemon slices. Not only will this refreshing scent keep mosquitoes away, it will also add some color and uniqueness to your wedding.
Keep the Air Moving: Mosquitoes will stay at bay if the air is moving, so consider having some fans at your wedding or handing out hand fans. With temperatures still in the 100's, it's not a bad idea to have them anyways.
Here at Val Vista Lakes, mosquitoes aren't that big of an issue, but we still get a few here and there. With Fall quickly approaching, thank goodness, there is no better place to have your wedding!
