The Benefits of a Weekday Wedding

Most weddings are held on the weekends, for various and sundry reasons. It may make it easier for guests to attend and often, for the bride, groom and family members, as well. However, for those that have some flexibility in terms of wedding attendance and the planning process, a weekday wedding might be a novel idea. The theme is not dependent on any day of the week, and usually, neither is the setting. You can hold a beautiful outdoor Arizona wedding during the evening of a weekday, as can you a posh upscale city gala wedding affair.

There are several key benefits to holding a weekday wedding. The more obvious benefit is the fact that many of the vendor costs associated with your wedding will be significantly lower. In other words, you can expect to pay less for your venue, flowers, catering and more. In fact, some vendors may offer an even deeper discount if your weekday wedding is held during the low season, such as a weekday wedding in the middle of winter.

It might seem like a hardship on your guests, but in fact, you may make it easier for them to attend. People often have to choose between weekend plans and attending weddings on Saturdays and Sundays; sometimes, it is the wedding that takes a backseat to personal plans. For example, an Arizona wedding held on the weekend might compete with guests looking to go hiking or explore other outdoor adventures around the state, such activities common of weekend warriors. However, a weekday wedding takes away the competition. Since people rarely schedule activities during the weekday evenings, you actually may get a larger crowd than you otherwise might have received with a traditional weekend affair.

While there are benefits, there are also considerations to be had. For example, a weekday wedding may need to end earlier than a weekend affair, since people need to work the next day. Also, consider your season; people may be more reluctant, for instance, to spend time outdoors (even on a weekday afternoon) in the sweltering heat of an outdoor Arizona wedding held during the summer months. Be considerate of timing as well; if your wedding starts at 6 p.m., it may be hard for your guests to navigate through 5 o’clock traffic trying to get to your wedding on-time. Moreover, a 6 p.m. start time doesn’t give guests much time to change. By addressing such considerations, you can ensure a more successful weekday wedding affair.
